cobrajetjohn:
You have Thanksgiving and Christmas too close. I love my turkey and everything for both, but here Thanksgiving is Oct
Nov 10 2009, 2:25 AM
SewOnline:
I know what you mean Pat. We used to all go to my dads for Christmas. All five sibblings, spouses, and kids.....until he died. Then I tried to keep it going at my house for a couple of years. But it gets difficult each year as I live in Illinois, but everyone else is in Wisconsin. They don't like to drive.
Nov 10 2009, 2:26 AM
SewOnline:
Really Pat, I didn't know that! And you are right they do seem close

Some of my messages are getting lost
Nov 10 2009, 2:30 AM

I wanted to get all of my family together this summer. There's not that many of us, just me and my brother. He has one son, I have 3 kids. In all there's only 21 of us, but just couldn't find a time for everybody. Maybe next year.
Nov 10 2009, 2:30 AM
SewOnline:
As we got older and starting having kids, my grandma was still having us over to decorate cookies.

My Mom used to bake a ton of stuff and bring it for Xmas. My Dad always said he only got the scraps or hard edges from all the squares.
Nov 10 2009, 2:32 AM
SewOnline:
And then when she died I started this at my house. And still make sugar cookies every year for the kids to decorate. We have a large holiday party for friends neighbors And now I make cookies for their kids to decorate at our parties. They love it and one year I didn't do it, and I heard about it for some time..
Nov 10 2009, 2:33 AM
cobrajetjohn:
And between Xmas and New Years we still go out for Chinese food. My Dad started that, the Mom kept it up, so now we still go in memory of everyone.
