Matrix: one solution is to host your blog on your own domain... then you can run wordpress yourself.

Matrix: it's because wordpress.com blocks any embedded chat. it's unfortunate, because blogger.com and blogspot.com let you do it.

Matrix: basically wordpress strips out the embed code after you paste it in.

Matrix: it's likely because the people running wordpress decided they don't want to send traffic to other sites. that's my guess.
